NICEVILLE, Fla. – Freshman guard Micah Thomas exploded for 27 points as Northwest Florida State men's basketball defeated Pensacola, 84-61, in Raider Arena on Wednesday.
Thomas was 9-of-11 from the floor, 4-of-5 from three-point range, and converted all five of his free throw attempts to lead all scorers.
Jourdan Smith finished with 14 points on 5-of-7 shooting. Calvin Payton added 11 points, while Fallou Diagne chipped in with 10.
As a team the Raiders shot 63.5 percent (33-52), the highest mark since converting 68.0 percent against Miami Dade on Nov. 24, 2018.
NWF (6-12, 3-10 PC) was unstoppable in the second half shooting 72.7 percent as a unit. The Raiders also dominated in the paint outscoring the Pirates 40-22 for the game and added 31 points off of 22 turnovers.
With the win, Northwest Florida snapped a 13-game home Panhandle Conference losing streak.
The Raiders return to action on Tuesday as they travel to face Gulf Coast. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
