Northwest Florida Travels for Matchup with Gulf Coast

NICEVILLE, Fla. – Northwest Florida men's and women's basketball continue Panhandle Conference play Saturday in Panama City as the teams visit Gulf Coast. The women kick things off at 2 p.m. and the men are set for a 4 p.m. tip.

Both games will be streamed HERE.

The ninth-ranked women (18-3, 3-2 PC) used a strong fourth quarter to knock off No. 2 Chipola Wednesday. Reneasha Payton scored a game-high 17 points on 6-of-15 shooting. Rayven Peeples added 14 points on a 7-of-8 effort from the field while Chanaya Pinto chipped in with a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds.

No. 3 Gulf Coast (16-2, 3-2) was tripped up by Pensacola Wednesday on the road. The Commodores have dropped two of their last three Panhandle Conference games.

NWF men (12-9, 0-5) dropped a hard-fought 68-61 decision to Chipola last time out. The Raider shot 48 percent for the game but couldn't knock down shots when the team needed them the most and mad just 3-of-14 attempts from 3-point range. Anthony Mason had a stellar performance going 6-of-7 from the field for 16 points to go along with nine rebounds and three blocks.

Gulf Coast (17-4, 4-1) sits atop the conference standings following an 88-87 win at Pensacola Wednesday. The Commodores aggressive style has placed them second in the league with 11.9 steals per game.
