Raider Defense Shines in Win over East Mississippi

NICEVILLE, Fla. – No. 18 Northwest Florida held East Mississippi to under 30 percent shooting from the field en route to a 67-53 win in Raider Arena Thursday.

The Raiders (6-1) slowed a Lion offense that entered the NWF Classic averaging 85.8 points per game. East Mississippi (5-2) managed to convert just 4-of-17 shots from 3-point range and were outrebounded 45-40.

Anthony Mason was excellent for NWF finishing with eight points on 4-of-7 shooting with nine rebounds and five blocks.

Seth Millner and Shakwon Barrett each scored 13 points to lead the team. Carte'Are Gordon had six points to go along nine boards.

Northwest Florida commanded most of the game leading by as many as 19 points and held the lead for 34:47 of the game.

The Raiders return to action at 7:30 p.m. Friday when the team takes on No. 3 Indian Hills. The Warriors fell, 61-60, to Gulf Coast in the tournament's opening game.
