Raiders Rout Coastal Alabama - North

NICEVILLE, Fla. – Northwest Florida men's basketball broke out offensively in a 94-65 win over Coastal Alabama – North Saturday in Raider Arena.

Northwest Florida (3-0) shot over 60 percent for most of the game and built its lead out to 31 points in the second half. Five Raiders scored in double figures led by Seth Millner with 19 points.

NWF fell behind 6-0 in the early going but righted the ship with a 7-2 run capped by a Thierno Keita 3-pointer. Trailing 15-11, Shakwon Barrett hit a triple to spur a 14-0 stretch and put the Raiders up double digits for the first time.

"We kind of started slow, but we pulled together and hit some shots to get the offense going," Northwest Florida head coach Butch Pierre said. "I was proud of the guys. They really shared the ball and shot a good percentage from 3-point. Our guys played ready and stayed ready."

The Raiders shot 53.6 percent for the game, knocked down 15 threes, scored 23 points off of 18 turnovers and recorded 25 assists.

Szymon Wojcik scored 15 points and tied for the team lead with six rebounds. Carte'Are Gordon, Shakwon Barrett, and Anthony Mason all finished with 12 points each. Gordon also posted three steals, two blocks and two assists. Barrett lead the team with seven helpers. 

Shamon Mosely was 6-for-12 from the field to lead Coastal Alabama with 13 points and 10 rebounds.

Northwest Florida travels to Monroeville, Ala., to face the same Coastal Alabama – North squad on Tuesday. Tip is set for 7:30 p.m.
