Suffocating Defense Leads Raiders to Victory

NICEVILLE, Fla. – Northwest Florida men's basketball turned in another stellar defensive performance in a 61-48 victory over Roane State Friday in Raider Arena.

NWF (2-0) held Roane State to just 32.2 percent (19-59) from the field and 2-of-19 (10.5 percent) from 3-point range. In two games this season, opponents are shooting just 9.6 percent from beyond the arc.

Seth Millner scored a game-high 16 points on 7-of-13 shooting. Jan Wojcik posted a team-high nine rebounds, while Shakwon Barrett (12), Marseilles Caston (11), and Jourdan Smith (10) all scored in double figures.

Northwest Florida led by as many as 18 in the second half and held Roane State to just seven points over the final seven minutes of the game. The Raiders knocked down 20-of-32 free throws in the win. 

NWF hosts Coastal Alabama – North Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Roane State takes on Pensacola State at 5:30 p.m. in Raider Arena.
