Bio

Michael Wood continues his Raider career as he enters his 5th season with the team in 2023-2024.  Wood came to Northwest Florida after serving two years as the Assistant Coach at St. Lawrence University in Canton, NY

While at SLU, Wood was the third base coach and he worked with the hitters and infielders. Mike’s other responsibilities as assistant coach included assisting with recruiting and overseeing the team’s social media. Wood graduated in May 2019 with a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership.

In the summer of 2019 Michael accepted the position as Head Coach for the Watertown Rapids of the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League in Watertown, New York. Midway through the season, Michael was selected as Head Coach for the West Division in the annual All Star Game in Saugerties, New York.

In the summer of 2018 Wood was an assistant coach for the Boynton Beach Buccaneer’s in the South Florida Collegiate Baseball League.

Coach Wood attended Jefferson Community College in Watertown, New York playing baseball for Head Coach John Northrop. After a successful career at JCC as team captain his sophomore year, Michael earned a degree in Liberal Arts. After graduating in 2015, He then played for a summer collegiate team affiliated with the NYCBL and PGCBL (Capital City Reds in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada) under head coach Roch Seguin. Michael accepted a baseball scholarship to attend NCAA Division II Davis & Elkins College in Elkins, West Virginia. Michael started every game as an infielder, primarily at third base, and was Team Captain his senior year under Coach Mason Heyne. Wood also played for the South Florida Huskies in the South Florida Collegiate Baseball League in the summer of 2016.

A 2017 graduate of Davis and Elkins, Wood has a degree in Sport Management with a Kinesiology minor. He is a native of Seneca Falls, New York.
