Brad Powell enters his 3rd year with the Raider baseball team.

In Coach Powell’s first season as the Raiders Pitching Coach, the Raiders set the NWF school record for strikeouts in a season with 462. Powell’s pitching staff led the Panhandle Conference in K/9 and finished 15th nationally. The Raider staff allowed the fewest walks in the Panhandle Conference and finished 13th nationally in fewest walks allowed. Six Raider pitchers moved on to Division 1 baseball after Powell’s tutelage (Jake Madden- Alabama, Will Cannon- Auburn, Joel Sarver- Charlotte, Dante Chirico- Appalachian State, Caleb Reis- Missouri State, and Brandon Smith- Florida Atlantic). Jake Madden became the 2nd highest drafted Raider in school history, going pick 118 to the Los Angeles Angels.

In Coach Powell's second season as the Raiders Pitching Coach, the Raiders finished 4th in the FCSAA ranking for strikeouts and had the 3rd best team ERA with a 4.46. The Raider pitching staff saw 6 pitchers go off to Division-I schools (Kyson Witherspoon - Oklahoma, Gavin Black - Mississippi State, Ramsey David - South Alabama, Malachi Witherspoon - Oklahoma, Kyle Beaty - Florida Atlantic, and Wilson Perkins - Davidson).

Powell came to Niceville after two seasons as Director of Baseball Operations, Assistant Pitching Coach and Catchers Coach at Iowa Western Community College in Council Bluffs, IA. While at Iowa Western the Reivers were 70-14, and 3 catchers moved on to Division I programs. Powell also played a part in the recruiting efforts for Head Coach Marc Rardin.

Before Iowa Western, Coach Powell served three years as Recruiting Coordinator, Catchers Coach and worked with baserunners and hitters at Doane University in Crete, Nebraska.

While at Doane, Powell’s catchers improved dramatically, dropping passed ball and stolen bases against numbers each year. Offensively, the Tigers flourished, averaging over 5.5 runs per game the last two seasons en route to breaking numerous school records, including doubles in a season for a single player and total team home runs.

In 2019, Coach Powell coached the hitters for the Quincy Gems of the Prospect League. The Gems broke the league record for homers with 106 in only 60 games. The Gems offense also lead the league in slugging, total bases, 2nd in doubles, and 2nd in total offense.

Powell also served as the Pitching Coach for the Liberal BeeJays in Liberal, Kansas in the summer of 2017. The BeeJays posted a 30-12 record and qualified for the NBC World Series as they won their first league title since 1999. The BeeJay staff led the league in ERA and strikeouts and had their most team wins in a season since 1993.

Powell played collegiately at McCook Community College and Doane. While at McCook, Brad made 28 career appearances, including 20 his sophomore year, which at the time, was the fourth-most in school history. After McCook, Brad transferred to Doane, where he posted the second-best earned run average on the team his junior season, ranking first on the squad in opponent's batting average against. Coach Powell also played for the Duluth Huskies in the Northwood’s League.

A 2016 graduate of Doane, Powell has a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with a focus in Physical Education and History. He is a native of Palmyra, Nebraska.
