Northwest Florida Dominates Tallahassee State Behind Qrey Lott’s Six RBI
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Qrey Lott delivered a stellar performance at the plate, driving in five runs on three hits to propel the Northwest Florida State Raiders to a commanding 13-0 victory over the Tallahassee State Eagles on Friday. Lott ignited the offense with a solo home run to left field in the first inning, followed by a fourth-inning triple that plated three runs and a double that brought in another.
The Raiders set the tone early, taking a 1-0 lead in the first on Lott's home run. They extended their advantage in the second, capitalizing on a Matthew Keller RBI single to center and a Tallahassee State error to push across two more runs.
Northwest Florida broke the game wide open in the fourth inning, scoring 10 runs in a relentless offensive outburst. The scoring spree included an error that brought in one run, Lott's RBI double, a bases-loaded hit-by-pitch for David Alvarez, a walk that forced in a run by Matthew Farner, a two-run double from Joe Cable, Lott's three-run triple, and a run-scoring single by Henry Allen.
Alex Walsh dominated on the mound for the Raiders, tossing five shutout innings while allowing just three hits, striking out four, and walking three. Tallahassee State's starter, Justin Morales, struggled against Northwest Florida's offense, surrendering seven hits and seven runs (five earned) over three and one-third innings while striking out four and walking three.
The Raiders' offense delivered an impressive performance, collecting 11 hits. Qrey Lott led the charge with three hits and six RBIs, while Matthew Keller added two hits in three at-bats. In total, seven of the ten Raiders who stepped to the plate recorded a hit. On the defensive end, Northwest Florida was flawless, turning one double play and committing no errors. Joe Cable anchored the defense, leading the team with five defensive chances.
For Tallahassee, Keuri Martinez, Reid Harvey, and Cade Culbreth each recorded one hit. The Eagles also turned one double play but were unable to generate any offensive momentum against Northwest Florida State's dominant performance.
This victory marks the Raiders' 23rd win of the season, improving their record to 23-7 overall and 5-2 in Panhandle Conference play. The team has been on an impressive run, winning 14 of its last 16 games. Offensively, the Raiders have scored double-digit runs in four of their last eight games, while their pitching and defense have limited opponents to four or fewer runs in five of those contests.
Northwest Florida State will conclude the first half of conference play on Saturday afternoon when they host the Eagles at the Raiders Baseball Complex, with first pitch set for 1:00 p.m. Following that matchup, the Raiders will shift their focus to a pivotal four-game series against No. 12 Gulf Coast State. The series opens at home with games on Tuesday and Thursday before the Raiders travel to Panama City for the final two contests on Saturday.
