Raiders Defeat John Melvin University Tuesday, 9-2

The Northwest Florida State Raiders secured a 9-2 victory over John Melvin on Tuesday, thanks to strong performances from the bottom of the lineup. Matthew Farner, Tristan Bittle, and Joe Cable combined for seven of the team's 12 hits, contributing two runs and four RBIs.

John Melvin took an early lead in the first inning when Austin Holstein hit into a double play that allowed a run to score. However, the Raiders quickly responded in the bottom of the first with home runs from Sam Bradley and Augusto Mungarietta, giving them a 4-1 advantage.

In the third, Cable extended the lead with an RBI single to left field, making it 5-1.

Anthony St. Vincent started on the mound for the Raiders, allowing just one hit and one unearned run over four innings while striking out four. Moose Ortego got the start for John Melvin, surrendering four runs on two hits in one inning of work. The Raiders' bullpen—featuring Jackson Evers, Brady Robertson, Sam Schafer, Eli Jones, and Joey Wittig—combined to shut down John Melvin the rest of the way.

Bittle led the offensive charge with a perfect 4-for-4 performance, while Bradley and Bittle each recorded three RBIs. Cable added two hits in five at-bats. Defensively, the Raiders turned a double play to keep John Melvin at bay.

For John Melvin, Taylor Jordan drove in the team's lone RBI, while Zach Barrientos and Kyle Brealond each notched a hit. The team played error-free defense, with Tobin Jones recording a team-high six fielding chances.
