Raiders Open Home Stand With 12-0 Run Rule Over LBW Tuesday

NICEVILE, Fla. — The Northwest Florida State baseball dominated in it's home opener against Lurleen B. Wallace (LBW) with a commanding 12-0 victory on Tuesday at the Raider baseball complex.

The Raiders wasted no time getting on the scoreboard, as David Alvarez doubled in the first inning to bring in two runs. They continued to build their lead in the second, with Ira Jefferies-Harris ripping a double down the right field line and another run scoring on a wild pitch, giving the Raiders an early 4-0 lead.

In the third inning, the Raiders tacked on three more runs with an RBI singles from Preston Murphy and Sylas Boris. Their biggest offensive surge came in the fourth, where they exploded for five runs on five hits—Hutson Guinn singled to drive in two, Qrey Lott doubled to plate another pair, and Boris grounded out to bring in the Raiders 12th and final run.

This victory marks the Raiders' first home win of the 2025 season, improving their overall record to 5-3 and setting a strong tone for their five-game homestand.

Pitching Highlights

Jackson Evers got the start on the mound for the Raiders, throwing three hitless innings while striking out four and walking three. Ryker Chavis and Cooper Powell and Alex Uher all came on in relief for the Raiders, and help keep the Saints scoreless. Powell and Chavis each threw an inning of work—Powell struck out two while Chavis punched out one.

Offensive Leaders

Offensively, the Raiders tallied 11 hits, with Boris leading the charge. The center fielder went 2-for-3, driving in three runs. Boris, Jefferies-Harris, and Alvarez each recorded two hits, while Hutson Guinn, David Alvarez, and Qrey Lott delivered in key moments, each collecting a pair of RBIs.

Up Next

The Raiders will stay home this weekend as they get set to play four games against Motlow and Miami Dade—two games each—this Friday and Saturday. After the Raiders time in Niceville is up, they will take on LBW once more, this time in Andalusia, Ala. for one game before heading to Perkinson, Miss. for a three game set against Mississippi Gulf Coast.
