Long Ball Power Raiders to Commanding 10-0 Victory Over Pensacola On Tuesday

 

NICEVILLE, Fla. — Northwest Florida State baseball celebrated a commanding 10-0 five-inning victory over Pensacola on Tuesday riding four home runs by Cayden Gaskin, Cade Sadler, Kendrey Maduro and Jaquae Stewart. The Raiders wasted no time seizing the lead, capitalizing on an stolen base by Chase Williams and an error in the first inning to score their first run.

The Raiders' offensive onslaught continued in the second inning, as four more runs crossed the plate, extending their lead to 5-0. Preston Murphy's single, Chase Williams's double driving in two runs, and Cayden Gaskin's solo home run to left field fueled their momentum.

In the third inning, Northwest Florida State further solidified their lead with two additional runs, courtesy of two long balls by Cade Sadler and Kendrey Maduro, both exiting left field.

Sam Streak delivered another stellar performance, pitching six innings of shutout baseball, allowing only three hits while striking out eight. On the other side, Nestande took the loss for Pensacola CC, giving up five runs (four earned) over two innings.

The Raiders offense was firing on all cylinders, amassing 12 hits during the game. Gaskin, Williams, and Brock Tapper each collected two hits, with Williams and Jaquae Stewart each driving in a pair of runs. Williams also showcased his speed with two stolen bases. Gaskin has hits in five of his last six outings and leads the team in RBIs with 46, while Maduro has three homers in his last three games.Defensively, the Raiders were flawless, committing no errors, with Murphy making the most plays with nine.

Northwest Florida has won seven of their last ten games, outscoring opponents 95-45 during that stretch. This win also marks the fourth run-rule victory in the last week. The Raiders magic number to win the Panhandle Conference now sits at three games with three more contest remaining in their schedule, all against Pensacola. 

The Raiders will be back at in Niceville Thursday at 5:00 PM against Pensacola for their final home game of the regular season. This will be sophomore night where the Raiders are set to recognize 13 players: Colby Jones, Kendrey Maduro, Cayden Gaskin, Preston Murphy, Cade Sadler, Mason Janz, Colin Linder, Reid Broussard, Brock Tapper, Will Boylan, Bryce Hubbard, Parker Dillhoff and Tyler Lejeune.
