Strek and Offensive Prowess Propel Raiders to 10-1 Victory Against Gulf Coast on Thursday

PANAMA CITY, Fla. — On Thursday at Panama City, right-handed pitcher Sam Strek showcased his dominance on the mound, tallying 10 strikeouts to lead Northwest Florida State to a commanding 10-1 victory over Gulf Coast State.

Strek's stellar performance included allowing just one hit and one run over seven innings, without issuing a single walk.

The Raiders surged with a remarkable 10-run outburst in the seventh inning, sealing their triumph. Kendrey Maduro ignited the scoring with a solo home run to left field. Colby Jones, Jaquae Stewart, Bryce Hubbard, Tyler Lejeune, Qrey Lott, Chase Williams, and Cayden Gaskin all contributed with walks and hits, driving in runs to secure the win.

Despite Gulf Coastscoring first with a run in the second inning off an error, their efforts fell short. Whited took the loss for the Commodores, pitching six innings and conceding three runs on five hits, while striking out four and walking four.

Gaskin and Williams proved formidable in the lineup for Northwest Florida, each collecting two hits and driving in two runs. The Raiders showed discipline at the plate, drawing 10 walks throughout the game, with Lott and Jones leading the team with two each. Gaskin also showcased his speed on the basepaths, stealing two bases.

Baughcum led Gulf Coast State with one hit in two plate appearances, while the team turned one double play during the game.

This marks the second consecutive victory over Gulf Coast after the Raiders defeated the Commodores 14-5 on Tuesday, also in Panama City. The Raiders will play the Commodores two more times on Saturday, this time from the comfort of their home ballpark. Game one is set to begin at 1:00 PM with game two scheduled for 4:00 PM.
