Bryon Rincones Named FCSAA/Region VIII Pitcher of the Week

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — After two gutsy appearances last week against number one ranked Gulf Coast and Tallahassee, Bryon Rincones has been awarded this week's FCSAA/Region VIII Pitcher of the Week award. 

Last week, the 5'11" right-hander out of Aruba tossed a combined 9.1 innings, allowing just one earned run and striking out 13 batters while surrendering just five hits and three walks, earning one win in the process. 

It started early in the week when the Raiders traveled to Panama City last Monday to take on the number-one-ranked Commodores. Rincones pitched three innings of relief that game, only allowing one run on three hits and striking out eight Commodores to help seal a 10-2 win for the Raiders. 

Rincones continued to dominate on the Raiders' road trip to Tallahassee on Saturday. The freshman threw another 6.1 innings of relief that day, giving up just two hits and no earned runs, striking out another five batters, and earning his first win of the season. 

Rincones has made eight appearances for the year, throwing 17.0 innings of work, punching out 19 batters, and posting a 2.12 ERA and 1.18 WHIP. He is one of six Raiders with an ERA under 3.00 and is only one of three pitchers on the team to have allowed six runs or less while tossing at least 10.0 innings for the year.
