Estradas’ Ten Punch Outs Pushes NWF to Victory Over Chipola

 

MARIANNA, Fla. — In a dominant pitching performance, Mack Estrada led Northwest Florida State to a 5-1 victory over Chipola on Thursday in Marianna. Estrada showcased his prowess on the mound, striking out 10 batters while allowing just three hits and one run over seven and two-thirds innings, with three walks.

Estrada adds to what has been a strong start to the season. In 32.1 innings pitched, Estrada is 4-0 with a 1.95 ERA and 45 strikeouts - good for best on the team and ninth most in the country. 

The Raiders took control early, scoring two runs in the top of the third inning. Colby Jones initiated the scoring with a fielder's choice, bringing in two runs. Brock Tapper and Kendrey Maduro followed suit with RBI singles, extending the lead.

The Indians' starter, Elissalt, endured the loss after pitching five innings and conceding four runs on four hits, striking out nine and walking three. Tapper secured the save for Northwest Florida.

Offensively, Tapper, Tyler Lejeune, Cade Sadler, and Maduro each contributed with one hit. Tapper, Jones, and Maduro also contributed with one RBI apiece.The Raiders' solid defense was evident with two double plays turned during the game.

The Raiders have now won eight of their last ten games and open up Panhandle Conference play 1-0. They will look to make it 2-0 tomorrow when they take on the Indians once again, this time, on their home turf in Niceville.
