NWF Secures 5-1 Victory Over Lurleen B. Wallace in Home Opener

NICEVILLE, Fla – Northwest Florida State baseball claimed a convincing 5-1 win against Lurleen B. Wallace on Tuesday in Niceville.

 

The Raiders took an early lead in the bottom of the first inning when Colby Jones singled, followed by Jaquae Stewart's sacrifice fly, each bringing in a run. In the second inning, Tyler Lejeune's single added one more run, extending the lead to 3-0.

 

Alex Walsh earned the win for Northwest Florida, pitching four innings and allowing just one hit while striking out five and walking three, while Braden Rapp contributed one and two-thirds innings of shutout relief. Crooms took the loss for Lurleen B. Wallace, conceding three runs on seven hits over three innings.

 

The Raiders amassed ten hits in the game, with Bryce Hubbard, Cayden Gaskin, and Preston Murphy each collecting two hits. Stewart and Jones were instrumental, driving in two runs each. The Raiders also demonstrated discipline at the plate, drawing eight walks. Gaskin and Chase Williams led the team with two walks each.

Northwest Florida State's baseball team is back on home turf this weekend for another exciting lineup of games. The action kicks off with a match against Bishop State on Friday at Noon, followed by a doubleheader against Lake Land College on Saturday, starting at 11:00 AM.
