Sadler Helps Power NWF Past Florida Southwestern

BRADENTON, Florida – In an offensive fireworks display, Northwest Florida State baseball emerged victorious with a resounding 20-10 win over Florida Southwestern on Friday in Bradenton, Fla. Cade Sadler was the driving force behind the Raiders' triumph, blasting two home runs and contributing four RBIs, with homers in the fifth and sixth innings.

 

The game showcased an abundance of hits, with the Raiders amassing 14 and Florida Southwestern tallying 11 in this high-scoring affair. NWF wasted no time getting on the scoreboard, with Qrey Lott drawing a walk in the top of the first inning, scoring one run, and Sadler doubling, bringing in two more runs.

 

The Raiders expanded their early lead in the second inning after Kendrey Maduro was hit by a pitch, Jaquae Stewart walked, and Lott hit into a fielder's choice, each resulting in a run. Luca Danos countered with a solo home run for Florida Southwestern in the bottom of the second. The third inning saw NWF exploding for six runs on four hits, featuring a home run by Colby Jones, a double by Stewart, an error scoring a run, and a double by Cayden Gaskin, bringing in two more runs.

 

In the top of the fifth inning, the Raiders added four more runs on two hits, including Sadler's second solo home run, a double by Gaskin, a walk by Maduro, and a sacrifice fly by Stewart. Sadler continued his impressive performance with another solo home run in the top of the sixth.Florida Southwestern managed to score two runs in the bottom of the sixth with a home run by Victor Figueroa. NWF kept the runs coming, adding two more in the top of the seventh on a home run by Maduro.

 

Colin Linder earned the win for the Raiders, pitching three innings, allowing two hits and one run, striking out four and walking one. Landon O'Donnell took the loss for Florida Southwestern, surrendering five runs on three hits in one inning. Will Boylan pitched one inning of shutout relief for NWF, striking out one and walking none. Sadler and Jones led the Raiders with three hits each, while Stewart and Sadler each drove in four runs. Bryce Hubbard and Gaskin also contributed multiple hits for Northwest Florida State.

 

The Raiders displayed patience at the plate, drawing 13 walks in the game, with Hubbard, Stewart, Chase Williams, Jones, and Maduro leading the team with two walks each. Gaskin showcased his speed with two stolen bases, contributing to NWF's impressive total of four stolen bases in the game.
