Gavin Black Throws No-Hitter in 13-0 Win over Pensacola

PENSACOLA, FL - Gavin Black dominated the Pirates this afternoon in 5 innings of work, allowing no hits and 2 walks. Black recorded 3 strikeouts on the night in the 13-0 blowout victory over Pensacola State College. Northwest Florida improves to 23-12-1, 8-5 in the Panhandle. With today's win, the Raiders sit 1/2 game back of Gulf Coast for the top spot in the conference.

The Raiders offense helped Black stay relaxed early on as Cade Easterbrook started off the scoring train in the top of the 2nd inning with an RBI double, bringing home Paul Winland. Easterbrook added another 3 runs for the Raiders on a blast to right field to blow open a 6-0 lead in the 3rd inning. It got ugly in the 5th inning with singles by Kendrey Maduro, Cade Easterbrook, and Scott Mudler. Paul Winland and Blake Cavill drew walks in that inning to bring in a run.

In the bottom of the 5th inning, Gavin Black allowed a walk with 1 out before Kendrey Maduro and Andres Natera rolled a double play in the middle to seal the no-hitter.

The Raiders will head back to Pensacola on Thursday, April 6th for another showdown with the Pirates at 5:00 PM.
