Cade Easterbrook Walks It Off, 6-5 over Chipola

NICEVILLE, FL. - Northwest Florida evened the season series with Chipola this afternoon, scoring 4 runs in the bottom of the 9th inning to win 6-5. The Raiders improve to 21-11-1 on the season, 6-4 in Panhandle Conference play.

 

Heading into the 9th inning, Northwest Florida was staring at a 3-run deficit, down 5-2 with 3 outs left. Scott Mudler got the traffic going on the bases with a 4 ball walk, followed by Cayden Gaskin getting hit by a pitch. Tyler Lejeune drew another 4 ball walk, loading the bases. Colby Jones drew another 4 ball walk, bringing in Mudler to make it a 5-3 ballgame. Blake Cavill drew yet another walk and brought Kendrey Maduro to the dish down 5-4. A passed ball brought in the tying run and the Indians intentionally walked Maduro to load the bases. Cade Easterbrook drove in the winning run on a line drive to lead the Raiders over the Indians 6-5.

 

Ramsey David had a strong outing for Northwest Florida as he went 5.0 innings, giving up 5 hits and 1 earned run, while striking out 3. Wilson Perkins came in relief and gave the Raiders 2.2 innings, giving up 4 runs, 1 earned. Kyle Beaty picked up Perkins by finishing the 8th inning with a strikeout on 3 pitches and Jacob Sedun finished the 9th on 11 pitches, keeping the base paths empty.

 

Northwest Florida will finish up a 4-game series with Chipola this week as the Raiders will travel to Marianna on Saturday, April 1st at 1:00 and 4:00 PM.
