Cavill's Walk-Off Picture Perfect Ending In Raiders' Victory Over Eastern Florida State

SARASOTA, Fla. - Northwest Florida took their opening game in the 2023 season in dramatic walk-off fashion, thanks to a home run from Blake Cavill to lift the Raiders over Eastern Florida State 7-4. Blake Cavill led Northwest Florida to victory by driving in four runs. Cavill went 2-for-4 at the plate, with home runs in the 3rd and 9th inning. Kendrey Maduro hit a solo homer in his first collegiate at-bat to get the Raiders started in the first inning.

Jack O'Brien's sac fly in the bottom of the 8th inning to tie the game at 4 was a back breaker for Eastern Florida. The momentum swing allowed the Raider bats to get hot in the 9th inning, leading to Blake Cavill leaving the yard to walk it off in the 9th.

Ramsey David started the game for the Raiders. The pitcher went three and two-thirds innings, allowing two runs on two hits, striking out five and walking zero. Trenton Burnett (1-0) was the winning pitcher for Northwest Florida. The right-hander went two innings, allowing one run on two hits and striking out two. Wilson Perkins threw three and a third innings in relief out of the bullpen.

Northwest Florida collected seven hits on the day with Maduro and Cavill leading the way with 2 hits a piece for the Raiders.
