Raider baseball’s bats come alive in 12-2 win over Tallahassee

NICEVILLE, FL - Northwest Florida continued their series with the Tallahassee Community College Eagles on Thursday looking to take a 2-0 advantage in the 4-game set.  Thanks to a terrific performance from their offense and an outstanding outing from starting pitcher Dante Chirico, the Raiders coasted to victory over TCC to improve their conference record to 7-3 and 26-10 overall.

The second inning is where the Raider bats became loud.  After going down 1-0 in the top of the inning, the bottom half is where NWF responded.  Tyler Kehoe's sac fly scored one run for the Raiders and that began the floodgates in the following frame.

Northwest Florida pulled away for good with four runs in the third inning. In the third, Cherokee Nichols hit a solo homer, AJ Frtiz's sac fly scored one run for the Raiders, and Scott Mudler singled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run.

Chirico continued his strong season on the mound for the Raiders with another quality start.  The right-hander went six innings, allowing two runs on five hits and striking out eight.

The Raiders racked up 14 hits in the game. Nichols, Kehoe, Dalton McNamara, and Blake Cavill each managed multiple hits for NWF. Nichols led the way with three hits in three at bats.

Northwest Florida will conclude their series against the Eagles when they travel to Tallahassee on Saturday, April 2 for a doubleheader starting at 12:00 PM (CST).
