Raiders open up TCC series with 4-2 victory

NICEVILLE, FL - On Tuesday, the Northwest Florida State College baseball team began their third conference series of the season by hosting Tallahassee Community College.  The Raiders have been very tough at home this season and they were hoping for that trend to continue in game one vs. the Eagles.  Thanks to a great pitching effort from starter Caleb Reis and relief effort from Will Cannon, the Raiders kept TCC at bay for most the game in route to a series opening 4-2 victory.

The Raider bats got going in the second inning when Mason Janz singled on a 3-1 count, scoring one run.  Blake Cavill kept the inning going by plating two runs on a single to right field, followed by Cherokee Nichols' single to score Mason Janz, bringing the score to 4-0.

That turned out to be all the scoring the Raiders needed behind Reis and Cannon.  Reis led things off on the pitcher's mound for Northwest Florida as the righthander went seven innings, allowing two runs on eight hits, striking out seven and walking one.

Northwest Florida totaled seven hits. Scott Mudler and Cavill each collected two hits for the Raiders.

With the win, the Raiders improve to 25-10 overall and 6-3 in conference play.  They will next be in action on Thursday, March 31 at 3:00 PM for game two of the series with Tallahassee.
