Raiders blast Shelton State 11-0

Northwest Florida's two pitchers didn't allow a single hit, as the Raiders defeated Shelton State Community College 11-0 on Thursday. Caleb Logerwell struck out Drake Logan to get the last out of the game.

 

Carlos Guzman led NWF to victory by driving in four runs. Guzman went 2-for-3 at the plate. Guzman drove in runs on a double in the first, a sacrifice fly in the third, and a home run in the sixth.

 

The Raiders opened up scoring in the first inning when Guzman doubled.

 

Northwest Florida scored four runs in the sixth inning. Austin Kelly and Guzman all moved runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.

 

Jake Madden was credited with the victory for NWF. The pitcher went six innings, allowing zero runs on zero hits, striking out 13 and walking one. Logerwell threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.

 

Tate Robertson took the loss for Shelton State as he surrendered five runs on eight hits over four and a third innings, striking out five and walking zero.

 

The Raiders tallied three home runs on the day. Guzman went deep in the sixth inning. Blake Cavill had a dinger in the fifth inning. Cherokee Nichols had a homer in the fifth inning.
