Northwest Florida downs Miami Dade 5-1
Northwest Florida wins contest against Miami-Dade, 5-1, to close out the weekend in Palatka, FL.
The offense in the first inning got fired up behind Blake Cavill, who singled on a 2-1 count, scoring one run.
Joel Sarver was the winning pitcher for the Raiders. The freshman right-hander lasted six and a third innings, allowing five hits and one run while striking out 11 and walking one. Will Cannon threw two-thirds of an inning in relief out of the bullpen.
Andy Rodriguez took the loss for Miami-Dade. Rodriguez surrendered four runs on eight hits over four and a third innings, striking out six.
Northwest Florida State College tallied 13 hits. Austin Kelly, Cherokee Nichols, and AJ Frtiz all managed multiple hits for the Raiders. Kelly went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead the team in hits.
