Hillsborough defeats NWF, 9-4

Northwest Florida State College fell behind early and couldn't come back in a 9-4 loss to Hillsborough Community College on Friday. Hillsborough scored on a walk by Josh Bostick in the first inning, a walk by Cameron Vigh in the first inning, a walk by Jayson Yaccarino in the first inning, a single by Dillon Besnier in the second inning, and a error in the second inning.

 

NWF lost despite out-hitting Hillsborough ten to seven.

 

After the Raiders scored one run in the top of the third, the Hawks answered with one of their own. Northwest Florida scored when Brant Smith drew a walk, scoring one run. Hillsborough then answered when Landen Morrison's sac fly scored one run for the Hawks.

 

Murphy Bostick got the win for Hillsborough. The righty went three innings, allowing two runs on seven hits, striking out three and walking one. Austin Teel and Matthew Johnson entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.

 

Brandon Smith took the loss for Northwest Florida. The pitcher went two-thirds of an inning, allowing three runs on zero hits and walking one.

 

Carlos Guzman went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead the Raiders in hits.
