Raider pitching shuts down Chipola in 3-0 victory

Northwest Florida State College defeated Chipola College on Saturday as two pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Will Cannon got Peter Vasquez-Torres to hit into a fielder's choice to finish off the game.

 

The pitching was strong on both sides. NWF's pitchers struck out 13, while Chipola sat down nine.

 

The Raiders got things moving in the first inning. AJ Frtiz grounded out, scoring one run.

 

Jake Madden earned the victory on the pitcher's mound for Northwest Florida. The pitcher allowed one hit and zero runs over four and two-thirds innings, striking out nine. Cannon threw two and a third innings in relief out of the bullpen. Cannon recorded the last seven outs to earn the save for the Raiders.

 

Kenya Huggins took the loss for Chipola. The pitcher went four innings, allowing one run on one hit, striking out seven and walking one.

 

Austin Kelly, Frtiz, Cherokee Nichols, Dalton McNamara, Tyler Kehoe, and Brant Smith each collected one hit to lead the Raider offense.
