Cavill's HR leads NWF past SCF

Northwest Florida State College Varsity Raiders Varsity wins contest against State College of Florida on Saturday, 5-2.

State College got things moving in the first inning. Harrison Long grounded out, scoring one run.

The Raiders, however, pulled away for good with two runs in the fourth inning. In the fourth AJ Frtiz singled on a 2-0 count, scoring one run and Stefiuk induced Diego Guevara to hit into a fielder's choice, but one run scored.

Northwest Florida then tallied three runs in the fifth inning, scoring its runs on a home run by Blake Cavill.

Joel Sarver pitched NWF to victory. Sarver allowed five hits and two runs over four and two-thirds innings, striking out five and walking one. Dante Chirico threw two and a third innings in relief out of the bullpen. Chirico recorded the last seven outs to earn the save for the Raiders.

Stefiuk took the loss for State College of Florida. The pitcher went four and two-thirds innings, allowing two runs on four hits and striking out seven.
