Reis Pitches Raiders into Postseason

PENSACOLA, Fla. – Caleb Reis tossed a five-hit shutout to propel Northwest Florida State baseball into the postseason. The Raiders downed Pensacola, 3-0, on Saturday to secure a berth into the Gulf District/FCSAA State Tournament.

The Raiders (29-15, 15-9 PC) finish the regular season second in the Panhandle Conference and are set to face Santa Fe at 12 p.m. (CT) on Wednesday in Lakeland, Fla.

Reis struck out a career-high 12 batters and allowed just one hit over his last three innings of work.

The right-hander fanned five of the last seven hitters he faced and only allowed one runner past second in the game.

Northwest Florida got all of its offense in the third inning. Reagan Burford singled home Nasir Frederick before Carlos Guzman hit a two-run homer just two pitches later.

The Raiders got eight hits in the game with Burford and Seth Williams collecting two each.
