Reis, Sarver Pitch Raiders to Victory
NICEVILLE, Fla. – Caleb Reis and Joel Sarver turned in solid performances on the mound as Northwest Florida State baseball won its eighth straight game, a 4-2 decision over Gulf Coast, on Monday at the Raider Baseball Complex.
Reis tossed six innings and allowed two runs, one earned, on just three hits. The right-handers struck out six and walked three. Sarver tossed the final three innings and struck out three to earn the save.
The Raiders (28-12, 14-6 PC) got on the board with a Seth Williams RBI double in the first inning. After a run scored on an error in the second, Nasir Frederick singled to center to tack on another run and extend the lead to 3-0.
Gulf Coast got a run back on a solo home run in the third and another on a ground ball in the seventh, but Williams launched a solo home run in the bottom half of the seventh to give NWF a two-run cushion.
Northwest Florida returns to action on Wednesday when the team travels to take on Gulf Coast at 5 p.m.
