DeLucia Tosses Shutout, Raiders Second in Panhandle

MARIANNA, Fla. – With the season in its waning stages, Northwest Florida State right-hander Dylan DeLucia stepped up when the Raiders needed him the most firing a six-hit shutout to defeat Chipola, 4-0, on Sunday.

With the win, NWF (25-12, 11-6 PC) moves into second place in the Panhandle Conference standings with little more than two weeks to play in the regular season.

DeLucia registered 12 strikeouts and did not issue a walk in the complete-game performance. The Port Orange, Fla., native earned the win in three of the four Raider victories this week. In 15.1 innings of work, DeLucia struck out 21 batters, walked one, and allowed just one run.

On Sunday, DeLucia ran into trouble just once when he allowed a single and a double to consecutive hitters in the seventh, but back-to-back strikeouts got him out of the jam. On the season, DeLucia is 7-1 with a 2.31 ERA, 59 strikeouts and just 11 walks in 62.1 innings of work.

Northwest Florida got all four of its runs in the fifth. Austin Turner singled home Austin Kelly to get the Raiders on the board.

Nasir Frederick hit a three-run home run one batter later to put NWF up 4-0. Frederick, who has been red-hot over his last seven games, has eight hits, five long balls, and 14 RBI over that span.

Northwest Florida travels to Tallahassee on Friday. First pitch is set for 4 p.m. (CT).
