Late Surge Secures Road Win for NWF Baseball

PENSACOLA, Fla. – Northwest Florida State baseball got some late offense to topple Pensacola, 10-1, in Panhandle Conference play on Monday.

The Raiders (22-12, 8-6 PC) scored a pair of runs in the first inning but were silenced until the sixth when they plated five.

In the big inning, Austin Turner drove in two with a single to center followed by a two-run home run to right by Reagan Burford, his sixth long ball of the season.

NWF extended its lead in the seventh with consecutive RBI doubles from Austin Kelly and Carlos Guzman succeeded by a run scoring single by Turner

For the game, Kelly, Turner, and Burford finished with two hits each. Guzman and Turner drove in three runs apiece and eight of the nine Northwest Florida collected hits in the game.

Dylan DeLucia turned in yet another quality outing on the mound. The right-handed went 5.1 innings, struck out nine batters, and allowed just one run on eight hits to pick up his fifth win of the season.

The Raiders sit 1.5 games behind Chipola for second in the Panhandle standings and two games behind Pensacola for the league lead.

Northwest Florida returns to action at home on Wednesday when the team takes on Pensacola at 5 p.m. at the Raider Baseball Complex.
