Frederick Homers, Raiders Fall to Chipola

NICEVILLE, Fla. – Northwest Florida State baseball fought back from an early deficit but couldn't quite overcome solid pitching from Chipola as the Raider fell, 8-4, on Wednesday at the Raider Baseball Complex.

Nasir Frederick proved the only offense that NWF (20-11) could muster, hitting a grand slam with one out in the fifth inning.

Chipola scored in each of the first two innings before landing a three-run blow in the fifth. Frederick's homer drew the Raiders to within two, 6-4, in the fifth before the Indians added runs in the sixth on a bases loaded hit batsman and an RBI single in the seventh.

Jaylen Nowlin and Bo Bonds combined to pitch 4.2 scoreless innings in relief for the Indians, while the Raiders used eight arms is a bullpen game.

Frederick, Cherokee Nichols, and Nick Standridge had Raiders' three hits on the day.

Northwest Florida returns to action on Saturday with a doubleheader at Chipola. First pitch is set for 1 p.m.
