NWF Baseball Falls in Slugfest

NICEVILLE, Fla. – Northwest Florida State baseball fell 15-8 to Gulf Coast on Tuesday at the Raider Baseball Complex.

The Raiders (17-9, 3-3 PC) surrendered 18 hits and committed four errors in the contest but continued to battle until the Commodores landed to knockout blow with a five-run seventh inning.

Gulf Coast opened with four runs in the first and two more in the second, but each time NWF responded. After plating one in the bottom of the first, the Raiders scored two in the second before Tyler Kehoe launched a two-run homer to make it a 6-5 game.

The Commodores added three runs in the fourth and another in the fifth to extend its lead to 10-5. Kehoe hit his second homer of the game – a solo shot in the fifth – and a sacrifice fly in the sixth to cut the deficit to three.

NWF pulled to within two before Gulf Coast pulled away in the seventh.

Kehoe finished the game 2-for-4 with four RBI and two runs scored. Austin Kelly also collected a pair of hits in the game.

The Raiders are back in action on Thursday at home against Gulf Coast. First pitch is set for 5 p.m.
