NWF Baseball Sweeps Tallahassee at Home

NICEVILLE, Fla. – No. 20 Northwest Florida State swept Tallahassee in a doubleheader Saturday at the Raider Baseball Complex.

Northwest Florida 9, Tallahassee 4

After Tallahassee took a 4-3 lead in the sixth, Austin Kelly came to the plate as a pinch hitter in the bottom half and launched a solo home run to tie the game and ignite the NWF offense.

The Raiders (16-7, 2-1 PC) went on the score five more runs in the frame and coast to a 9-4 victory.

Tyler Kehoe and Seth Williams both drove in runs in the innings, while Austin Turner cleared the bases with a two-out hit.

Dylan DeLucia got the start and tossed 5.1 innings allowing three earned runs with six strikeouts. Dante Chirico picked up the win in the relief recording the final five outs.

Turner finished the game 3-for-4 with four runs batted in, while Kehoe and Williams collected two hits each.

Northwest Florida 3, Tallahassee 2 (8 innings)

Reagan Burford's one-out single in the bottom of the eighth lifted the Raiders to a 3-2 victory over the Eagles.

Kelly again the offense going for the Raiders with a solo home run in the second. Nasir Frederick drive in a run on a single in the first as NWF jumped out to a 2-0 advantage.

TCC runs in the fourth and fifth tied the game before Burford ended the game in the eighth.

Dylan Ross fanned seven batters across five innings. The right-hander allowed two runs on four hits. Thomas Wiilhite was spectacular in relief tossing three perfect innings with four strikeouts.

Northwest Florida returns to action on Sunday when the team hits the road to face Tallahassee in a doubleheader set to start at noon (CT).
