NWF Drops Conference Opener at Pensacola

PENSACOLA, Fla. – Pensacola used a three-run fourth inning to down No. 15 Northwest Florida State baseball, 4-1, on Tuesday.

Each team threatened but failed to score over the first three innings, but Pensacola finally broke through in the fourth.

Bayron Acevedo doubled home a run with one out in the frame, then Brayden Morrow singled to score two more and give the Pirates a 3-0 lead.

The Raiders (14-7, 0-1 PC) struck for their lone run in the fifth on a wild pitch. 

Dylan DeLucia started on the mound for NWF and went five innings allowing three runs on nine hits and nine strikeouts. Dante Chirico pitched the final three frames surrendering a run with three punch outs.

Northwest Florida returns to Pensacola on Thursday for game two of the four game weeklong series. First pitch is set for 5 p.m.
