NWF Baseball Rides Strong Start to Win

NICEVILLE, Fla. – Northwest Florida State baseball scored early and often as the Raider defeated Shelton State, 9-2, to wrap up a busy week.

The Raiders (13-5) got things going with a bang in the first innings. After Austin Turner reached on an error and Seth Williams walked, Reagan Burford launched a three-run homer to left. Later in the inning Tyler Kehoe drove in another run to give NWF an early 4-0 cushion.

In the second, Burford walked with the bases loaded before Trace Willhoite plated a run on a ground ball.

Dylan DeLucia got the start on the mound and was again stellar. The right-hander pitched seven innings and allowed one run on just two hits and fanned six.

Willhoite struck for a two-RBI double in the fourth followed by a sacrifice fly by Austin Kelly to cap the scoring for Northwest Florida.

Burford and Kelly finished with two hits each as the Raiders tallied nine hits and six walks in the contest.

Northwest Florida hosts Wallace-Dothan at 4 p.m. on Monday.
