Wilhite’s Solid Outing Leads Raiders to Win

NICEVILLE, Fla. – Thomas Wilhite allowed just one hit over five innings as Northwest Florida State baseball defeated Shelton State, 7-4, on Thursday at the Raider Baseball Complex. 

Wilhite struck out seven batters and retired the final eight hitters he faced as the right-hander picked up his third victory of the season.

Tyler Kehoe got the Raiders (11-4) on the board in the second inning with an RBI double scoring Austin Kelly from second. Northwest Florida doubled its advantage to 2-0 on a Reagan Burford run-scoring groundout.

Seth Williams and Trace Willhoite each delivered RBI singles in the fifth, while Burford struck the death blow with a two-RBI single in the sixth.

Austin Turner and Williams finished the game with three hits each, while Burford, Willhoite, Kehoe, and Luke Boynton all collected two hits apiece.

Northwest Florida hosts Shelton State at 11 a.m. and Coastal Alabama – South at 5 p.m. on Friday.
