Raiders Down TNXL, 10-1

NICEVILLE, Fla. – No 4 Northwest Florida State baseball used timely hitting to cruise past TNXL Academy, 10-1, in the Raiders home opener on Friday.

After the teams traded runs in the fourth inning, the Raiders offense got rolling in the fifth. Tyler Kehoe and Nasir Frederick singled home runs sandwiched around a Nick Standridge RBI fielder's choice to give NWF a 4-1 advantage. Austin Turner later added another run with a sacrifice fly.

With two outs in the sixth, Standridge singled to center to score Trace Willhoite and Austin Kelly. Willhoite then put the nail in the coffin with a three-run home run in the seventh.

Dylan Ross tossed six innings of one run ball. The right-hander struck out eight and allowed just three hits. John Michael Gillis and Harrison Dorsett combined to toss three scoreless frames to shut the door.

Northwest Florida (5-2) and TNXL are scheduled to play a doubleheader Saturday beginning at noon. Due to the chance of rain in the area, be sure to check @NWFRaiders on Twitter for potential schedule adjustments.
