Kentucky Mr. Baseball Signs with Northwest Florida
NICEVILLE, Fla. – Right-handed pitcher AJ Hacker has signed to play for Northwest Florida, head coach Doug Martin announced Thursday.
Hacker was named 2019 Kentucky Mr. Baseball along with earning Gatorade Kentucky Player of the Year, Prep Baseball Report Player of the Year, 2019 Collegiate Baseball Newspaper High School First Team All-American, and 2019 Rawlings Perfect Game All-American accolades.
The Morehead, Ky., native signed with Indiana out of Rowan County High School but did not see action in the COVID-19-shortened season.
Hacker finished his senior season with 110 strikeouts in just 62.2 innings of work to go along with a 0.67 ERA. He also batted .446 with 45 RBIs and eight home runs. Behind Hacker, Rowan County qualified for the Kentucky state championships for the first time in 32 years falling 2-1 in the title game.
