No. 2 Raiders Run Away with Road Wins

PERKINSTON, Miss. – No. 2 Northwest Florida baseball picked up a pair of road wins over Mississippi Gulf Coast on Friday.

Northwest Florida 13, Mississippi Gulf Coast 3

Nasir Frederick hit a grand slam and Trace Willhoite blasted a three-run shot as the Raiders routed Mississippi Gulf Coast, 13-3, in game one of the doubleheader.

Justice Thompson collected three hits and Noah Bailey finished 2-for-3 as Northwest Florida pounded out 13 hits in the game.

For Willhoite, the homer extended his hitting streak to eight games and tallied an extra base hit in three of his last six contests.

Jacob Kush struck out nine in five innings of work. He allowed two runs on three hits in the winning effort. John Michael Gillis closed out the game tossing the final two frames.

Northwest Florida 11, Mississippi Gulf Coast 5

The Raiders' power surge continued in game two as Northwest Florida blasted four home runs and collected seven extra base hits.

Zach McKnight, Noah Bailey, Justice Thompson, and Tomas Sanchez all went deep. McKnight, Bailey, and Sanchez each finished with three hits each.

Caleb reis got the start and fanned five in four innings. Dylan DeLucia tossed three innings in relief allowing one run on four hits while striking out four.

The Raiders will be back in action Saturday at home against Pearl River. First pitch for the doubleheader is scheduled for 1 p.m.
