NWF Baseball Completes Series Sweep of Shelton State

NICEVILLE, Fla. – No. 4 Northwest Florida baseball extended its winning streak to five and has now won 11 of its last 12 games as the Raider downed Shelton State, 9-1, to complete a three-game series sweep at the Raider Baseball Complex Saturday.

Beck Way allowed one run on three hits and struck out eight to improve to 4-0 on the season. The sophomore has fanned 38 batters in 28 innings of work. John Michael Gillis and Nick Ferrara tossed three shutout frames to close out the game.

Northwest Florida (13-3) scored a pair of runs in each of the first three innings to build an early 6-0 lead.

Trace Willhoite and Noah Bailey each knocked in runs with consecutive singles in the first. Nic Nolan then drove in a pair with a single in the second. In the third, Blake Buckle singled home Bailey and Leyton Pinckney's sacrifice fly plated another run.

Justice Thompson drove in a pair of runs in the game, one on a bases loaded walk in the sixth and an RBI triple in the eighth.

The Raiders close out its six-game homestand against Macomb at 3 p.m. on Monday.
