Pitching Dominates in Doubleheader Sweep

NICEVILLE, Fla. – No. 9 Northwest Florida got two dominant pitching performances to earn a doubleheader sweep over Coastal Alabama – South at the Raider Baseball Complex Saturday.

Northwest Florida 6, Coastal Alabama – South 1

Beck Way picked up his third win of the season tossing a complete game. Way fanned six hitters and allowed just an unearned run on four hits.

The Raiders (10-3) scored a pair of runs in the first, third and sixth innings to earn the victory. Noah Bailey hit his second home run of the season; a two-run shot in the first. Brock Franks, Trace Willhoite, and Leyton Pinckney each added RBIs in the game, while Calin Smith finished with two hits.

Northwest Florida 9, Coastal Alabama – South 0

Dylan DeLucia and Caleb Reis combined to shutout the Sun Chiefs in game two. DeLucia struck out four and allowed just two hits over six innings. Reis slammed the door with a clean seventh.

Willhoite collected two hits including a 2-RBI double. Franks also drive in a pair, while Nic Nolan, Bailey, Brandon Riera, and Smith picked up RBIs.

Northwest Florida pitching has allowed two or fewer runs in nine of its 13 games this season.

The Raiders continue their seven-game homestand with a 3 p.m. contest against Wallace-Dothan on Tuesday.
