Way Fans 11 as Raiders Top St. Johns River

PALATKA, Fla. – Beck Way continued his stellar start to the 2020 season as the sophomore struck out 11 batters in a 9-1 Northwest Florida win over St. Johns River Thursday.

Way allowed one run on five hits in seven innings of work. The Mechanicsburg, Pa., native has posted 24 strikeouts and surrendered just seven hits in 15 innings on the mound this season.

Noah Bailey drive in three run and finished 2-for-3 at the plate. Brock Franks was 3-for-3, while Nasir Frederick and Nic Nolan added two hits each.

Bailey opened the scoring in the first with sacrifice fly to left allowing Franks to cross. The Raiders (6-2) extended their lead in the third inning when Bailey lashed a single to again score Franks.

Northwest Florida cashed in runs on three consecutive hits in the fifth capped by a Trace Willhoite 2-RBI double.

On Friday, NWF takes on Pasco-Hernando at 10 a.m. and Florida SouthWestern at 12:30 p.m. Fans can follow both games via live state HERE.
