NICEVILLE, FL - Sophomore outfielder Jake Randa committed to play for head coach Chris Lemonis and Mississippi State University on Monday evening.
"I'm super excited for this opportunity," says Randa. "This has been a dream of mine since I was 10 years old and now I get to compete in the best conference in college baseball."
The Prairie Village, KS., native will join the Bulldogs for the 2019-2020 season. Last year, Mississippi State had an overall record of 39-29, with their season coming to an end in the semi-finals of the College World Series.
As a freshman, Randa led the Raiders in almost every offensive category: runs scored (56), total hits (70), home-runs (13), RBIs (52), batting average (.412), on base percentage (.507), and slugging percentage (.753). He also recorded a hit in 37 of his 50 games played. Most notably, Randa hammered 3 home-runs in one game against defending national champions Chipola College.
After an impressive freshman campaign, Randa was named to the FCSAA/NJCAA Region VIII First Team All-State, as well as First Team All-Panhandle Conference.
"Jake has committed to the highest level of college baseball, the Southeastern Conference," says NWF State Head Coach Doug Martin. "This is a great example of a really good young player using the junior college route to achieve his goals. We are extremely proud of Jake."
