Bio

Taya Gibson joined the Northwest Florida Staff in 2024 after spending the 2023-24 season as a graduate assistant at Tusculum University.

 

Gibson joined Tusculum after playing the previous two seasons at Georgia Southern University. She averaged 9.5 points and 5.9 rebounds and shot 50.7 percent from the field as a senior in 2022-23, while compiling three double-doubles in 22 starts. As a junior, Gibson averaged 8.0 points and 4.7 rebounds per game and led the Sun Belt Conference in field-goal percentage at 55.2 percent.

 

Prior to Georgia Southern, the Rome, Georgia native played two seasons at Columbus State University, earning Peach Belt Conference All-Tournament honors in 2019. Gibson averaged 12.7 points and 7.0 rebounds as a sophomore.

 

Gibson earned a Bachelor of Science degree in sport management from Georgia Southern in May, 2023 and an associate of arts degree in interdisciplinary studies from East Georgia State College in 2020.
