Late Free Throw Lifts NWF Women to Win

TYLER, Texas – Fapou Semebene knocked down the first of two free throws with 5.1 seconds remaining in overtime and the Northwest Florida defense stood strong as the No. 5 Raiders defeated No. 10 Tyler Junior College, 68-67, Friday in the Tyler Classic.

Semebene finished with 17 points and 15 rebounds to go along with a pair of blocks. Chanaya Pinto turned in a team-best 22 points and Rayven Peeples chipped in with eight.

The Raiders led by as many as 10 points in the first half but stayed level with the home team through 40 minutes to force overtime.

Tyler had two last-second attempts to tie the game but failed to get off a quality shot before the buzzer.

Northwest Florida wraps up play in the Tyler Classic against Angelina at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
