NWF Women’s Hoops Preview Part 3: The Roster

Niceville, Fla. – With the start of women's basketball season just around the corner, NWFRaiders.com will take a look at the program in a four-part series.
Northwest Florida State opens its 2019-20 campaign at home on Nov. 2 against Wabash Valley at noon.
The third part of the series takes a look at the 2019-20 roster as the Raiders have 12 newcomers joining the team's one returning letterwinner – Gabriela Sales.
GUARDS
Gabriela Sales is the lone returning letterwinner for the Raiders in 2019-20. As a freshman, she scored 61 points and hauled in 71 rebounds in 323 minutes on the floor. At 6-feet, the native of Sao Paulo, Brazil looks to guide NWF to its third consecutive NJCAA Elite Eight appearance.
Jasmine Quarterman played baskletball, volleyball and ran track at Oak Ridge High School in Orlando. Quarterman averaged 9.8 points and 4.1 rebounds as a senior. At 6-feet, Quarterman can occupy the front or backcourt when needed.
Masengo Mutanda or "Mango" as she's known by her teammates is the all-time leading scorer at Armstrong High School in Plymouth, Minn. The three-sport athlete can speak speak fluent French and is the youngest of seven children.
Kynadi Kuykendoll attended Memphis Central High School where she served as the team's captain her junior and senior year. She poured in 6.1 points per game and was also a member of the volleyball and track teams.
Teresa Da Silva is product of Barking Abbey School in London, England and played in the Women's Elite Academy Basketball League. One of seven children, Da Silva was a two-time WEABL champion and three-time team MVP
Reneasha Payton is a Fort Walton Beach native where she was a star for the Vikings basketball and track teams. Payton spent her freshman season at Gulf Coast Community College where she scored 52 points in 21 games.
Laura Taylor averaged 7.3 points and 4.4 rebounds and connected on 34 percent from 3-point range with the Ballarat Rush in the NBL1. Taylor has the ability to shoot from distance and the size to post up if needed.
FORWARDS
Fapou Semebene transferred to Northwest Florida after spending one season at the University of Washington. Semebene sat out last year but saw action 25 games as a freshman in 2017-18. A lock-down defender and a terror on the glass, Semebene hauled in 10 boards against No. 9 Ohio State.
Chanaya Pinto is a 6-1 post from Mozambique who projects to make an immediate impact with the Raiders. Pinto averaged 14.9 points, 9.3 rebounds, and 2.3 assists for her country in the 2019 FIBA U19 Women's World Cup.
Musha Alhassan sat out one season while attending Hartford Community College in Bel Air, Md. The 6-5 forward averaged 10.4 points and 9.8 rebounds during her senior season at St. Vincent Palotti High School. She was ranked the No. 32 prospect in the state by Next Sport Phenom and the No. 20 center in the class of 2017 by Hoop Gurlz (ESPN).
Rayven Peeples is all-time leading scorer at John Hardin High School in Elizabethtown, Ky. Peeples played one season at North Carolina A&T and was named MEAC Player of the Week twice.
Vanessa Woodfolk is a native of Charlottesville, Va., where she starred at Saint Anne's-Belfield High School. As a senior, Woodfolk averaged 12.3 points and 8.1 rebounds as a senior.
Abigail Johnson joins her former Barking Abbey School teammate, Da Silva, in Niceville. Johnson was the leading rebounder for England's U16 squad at the European Championships. After coming to the U.S., the 6-1 forward was limited by injury in two years at St. Bonaventure. Johnson averaged 4.0 points and 7.5 rebounds in 21.3 minutes per game as a freshman in 2017-18. She sat out last season and received a redshirt.
