Raiders Claim Panhandle Championship in Rout

Saturday was kind to Northwest Florida State College.

Minutes after the women's basketball team kept its season going with a second half rally, the men's team had The Arena inhabitants on their feet.

MEN: NWF 102, TCC 73

Northwest Florida State clinched the Panhandle Conference championship with a 102-73 rout of Tallahassee Community College. The Raiders will soon raise their fifth conference title banner in seven years.

The Raiders (23-5, 9-3) outpaced the Eagles (20-10, 8-4) by 24 in just the first half, which ended 57-33. NWF State was ripping the nets, shooting 64.7 percent in the first 20 minutes and 10-of-17 from 3-point range. That was loads better than Tallahassee Community College's dreadful 34.2 percent shooting and 22.2 percent clip from 3-point land.

Daryl Edwards finished with a triple-double. His 13 points, 10 assists and 10 rebounds were only one standout showing.

Jared Wilson-Frame had 30 points and seven assists while Dante Sterling and Jeromy Rodriguez each added 12 points. William Pfister had seven points to go with eight rebounds.

Both teams will play in the upcoming National Junior College Athletic Association Region VIII tournament.
